Can I bring a drone on my dog sledding tour?

Yes, drone camera use is allowed on dog sledding tours, however, for safety reasons and the comfort of the dogs, you must keep your drone at above 30 feet (6 meters) from the ground, and above the tops of trees.

Can I take photos on my tour?

Absolutely! We welcome any and all photos and video footage, and will help you accommodate this to the best of our ability. However, we may ask you to put away your camera for safety reasons while driving a snowmobile, and you are liable for any damage to your, or Rod’s, equipment that results from irresponsible equipment use.

Can solo travelers book dog sledding?

Dog sledding tours require a minimum of 2 people per booking. Solo travelers may need to pay for 2 spots or contact us to see if a group spot is available.

What is the minimum age or weight requirement for dog sledding tours?

Dog sledding allows children 5+ (or 3–4 in warmer conditions). Contact us for any exceptions.

Can I bring a drone on my snowmobiling tour?

Drones are not permitted on snow machine tours due to the complex nature of driving with equipment. Please contact us directly to request special permission and discuss safety guidelines.

Can I switch between driver and passenger on a double rider snowmobile tour?

Switching during the tour is welcome, but any and all drivers must have a valid license and complete a safety briefing to be approved as a driver prior to the tour start.

What is the minimum age or weight requirement for snowmobile tours?

Snowmobile tours require passengers to be at least 5 years old and within combined sled weight limits (e.g., 350 lbs for double riders). Contact us for any exceptions.

Can I book a snowmobile tour without a driver’s license?

You can ride as a passenger if a guide or other driver with a valid license is available to operate the snowmobile. Contact us to confirm passenger availability.

Can I send a tip directly to a guide?

We currently don’t have a way to add a tip in our booking system, but if your guide has gone above and beyond, you are welcome to tip them in person, or by contacting us by phone or email to arrange

How far are you from Nordale Road or other private addresses?

Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service is typically 10–15 minutes from central North Pole. Pickup is available through our transportation add-on at checkout, but is only available from Fairbanks and North Pole hotels, downtown Fairbanks BnB’s, or Walmart.

Cancellation Policy

100% refund or free date and/or time changes more than 48 hrs prior to adventure start. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to adventure start. Late arrivals are considered no shows and refunds will not be issued.
